September 26 2017 | Toronto, ON – New York-based Enterprise Sales Forum will be celebrating October as a Women in Sales Month across all its chapters globally, with the Toronto edition holding a celebratory event on October 4 with a focus on Women in STEM.
A survey from CEB (now Gartner), shows that sales ranks second to last in the percentage of women in leadership roles. Women made up only 19%, second to Logistics and Supply Chain (17%), and a far cry from Finance with 43%. As a result, the percentage of women in frontline sales management in particular has remained flat for more than 10 years. The announcement from Enterprise Sales Forum comes in light of a need to emphasize the issue and to provide a platform to show the tremendous value of women in the sales profession.
”I have personally experienced the incredible upside of having diverse sales teams, from healthier team cultures to significant improvements in results. That is why we launched Women in Sales Month, to elevate the discussion and encourage more women on the path to sales leadership through the stories of other successful women sales professionals,” said Mark Birch, founder and CEO of the Enterprise Sales.
The meetup in Toronto will focus on Women in STEM and will be held on October 4 at The Achievers theatre, 190 Liberty Street East, with the support of Achievers Women’s Network. It will see Dr. Cindy Gordon, Advisor to the Toronto Chapter of Enterprise Sales Forum, host five generations of women in sales. Together, they will discuss what attracted them to a career in sales and what underlies their success. They will identify gaps that hinder attracting and retaining more women in STEM, explore solutions and also share advice on recruiting mentors to help increase women leadership in sales.
The panelists at this event will include:
- Joy Sayers, VP Business Development Accenture, and Former VP Sales Nokia
- Jennifer Franklin, VP of Sales, League
- Natasha Narayan, Regional Director of Sales, Canada, GainSight
- Vanessa Brangwyn, VP Client Success, Achievers
- Shikha Bindra, Account Executive, Vidyard
“Today, every industry depends on technology and increasingly deeper skills in science, technology, mathematics and engineering (STEM) are needed to fuel the digital economy. Our economic health requires a diverse workforce in STEM to design, build and sell products that represent the diverse modalities of our customers to fuel our future growth needs. A career in sales in the STEM fields is not only a rewarding career, but there are many role models to support the attraction, development and retention of women in tech. Together, we can create a stronger future for our global community; it’s time to change the status quo as it is a business imperative for innovation and economic health, ” says Dr. Cindy Gordon, CEO SalesChoice and a National Spokesperson for CATA, Canada’s largest technology professional association.
We thank our sponsors: SalesHacker, LiveStream, Gong, DiscoverOrg, League, Vidyard and Achievers for making this event possible.
