Toronto, ON | September 2024 – SalesChoice Inc. is thrilled to announce that Dr. Cindy Gordon, CEO, will be a distinguished speaker at the Canadian Council of College Futures (CCCF) conference on October 1-2, 2024. The event, titled “Future Forward: Advancing Canadian Innovation Through the Work of Canadian Colleges & Polytechnics,” will be hosted at George Brown College’s Waterfront Campus in Toronto.

Dr. Gordon will join a panel discussion on “The Innovation Pipeline: From Education to Enterprise,” where she will delve into how Canadian post-secondary institutions can foster a thriving innovation economy. The session will focus on enhancing pathways for students and their ideas to succeed in innovation, addressing the support needed to transform ideas into successful start-ups, and exploring ways to bridge connections between institutions and industry receptors.

Canada’s declining productivity and poor innovation commercialization performance needs a quantum shift, and engaging our post-secondary institutions to get us moving in the right direction is a business imperative. The continued shift to a digital economy has contributed to a surge in technology adoption through more dynamic, IT-intensive, and entrepreneurial services. Upskilling our educational institutions with more relevant future-proofing skills in areas like: AI, automation programming, robotics, cybersecurity, environmental safety, mental health, and wellness,  are all areas in high demand. Building performance measurements and investment tracking systems is needed to build a stronger Innovation pipeline for Canada to crack the worrisome productivity decline. The post-secondary educational sector is critical to build human capital capacity and relevance.  Statistics Canada just released a comprehensive review of innovation performance indicators that can help all sectors support entrepreneurship. I am thrilled to participate in this rich conversation on the Innovation Pipeline from Education to Enterprise. with:  Jeffrey Doucet, CEO Thrive Career Wellness Platform (moderator) John Weigelt, National Technology Officer, Microsoft Canada,  Alison Nankivell, CEO, MaRS Discovery District, and learn from educational sectorial leaders on their strategies, concerns and needs. It is only by working together that can we build a stronger future and economy in Canada.”

The CCCF conference is a premier event that brings together leaders in education and innovation to explore key trends, challenges, and opportunities within the Canadian college and polytechnic sector. Attendees will gain valuable insights into talent development, industry collaboration, and strategies to support entrepreneurship.

This year’s conference objectives include:

  • Share a comprehensive understanding of the dimensions of innovation, including key trends, challenges, and opportunities relevant to the Canadian college and polytechnic sector.
  • Identify key actions to support innovation at post-secondary institutions by acquiring insights on strategies such as talent development, industry collaboration, facility enhancement, and support for entrepreneurship.
  • Explore Toronto’s innovation ecosystem by engaging with local leaders and organizations, gleaning lessons and strategies applicable for members’ home communities.
  • Share knowledge and collaborate among peers through interactive sessions to exchange ideas, build connections, and share practical insights for enhancing innovation efforts.

We look forward to Dr. Gordon’s contributions to this pivotal discussion and the opportunity to advance Canadian innovation through collaborative efforts.
